What Foundayo is

Foundayo contains orforglipron, a once-daily tablet. The MHRA authorised it in 2026 for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes. It is a prescription-only medicine.

Authorised by the MHRA for adults with a BMI of 30 or more. Also for a BMI of 27 or more with at least one weight-related health condition. Used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and more physical activity.

Who it may be suitable for

  • Adults who meet the licensed BMI criteria and have had their weight independently verified.
  • People who prefer a daily tablet to a weekly injection, where the prescriber agrees it is appropriate.
  • People whose prescriber has checked their medical history and current medicines.

How it is taken

Taken by mouth once a day. The dose is increased step by step by the prescriber. Follow the patient information leaflet.

Common and important side effects

  • Feeling sick, being sick, diarrhoea or constipation, especially when starting or increasing the dose.
  • Reduced appetite, indigestion, stomach pain, bloating.
  • Tiredness, headache, dizziness.

  • Under 18 years of age.
  • A history of pancreatitis, or a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2.

Questions people ask

Who can use the service?

Adults aged 18 to 74 with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more. Also adults with a BMI of 27 or more and a weight-related condition, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or sleep apnoea. Your prescriber makes the final decision.

Will I definitely get treatment?

No. A prescription is not guaranteed. The prescriber decides on clinical grounds and may suggest an alternative or refer you to your GP. The assessment is free either way.

Why do you check my height and weight?

Your height, weight and BMI help the prescriber decide whether weight loss treatment is appropriate for you. Verifying these details gives them a more accurate picture of your suitability before any medicine is prescribed.

How is it checked?

There are several ways we can verify your height and weight, depending on what’s most suitable for you. This may include a short video call, live video verification, a live selfie, or information from your GP or medical records.

Which treatment is best for me?

That depends on your health, your other medicines and any treatment you have had before. Your prescriber will explain the options. The comparison on this page shows the main differences.

This page gives factual information for people considering the service. A prescription is not guaranteed. A registered prescriber decides after your assessment and an independent check of your height and weight.
